Shape Your Future

The idea of the project Shape Your Future arose after the completion and success of the previous Creative Force  project "Get me on Board" conducted between 2019-2020. Get me on Board was about revealing the challenges & strengths of Syrian women during the job search process through documentary film and preparing them a guide on how to find a job in Turkey. During the interviews with Syrian women, we observed that:

1) None of Syrian women knew their right to work

2) it is common to get married before 18 years old in Syria so many girls get married at child age instead of continuing their education and

3) holding university degree has huge impacts on integrating host society, finding jobs and establishing a future, but there are only a few Syrian girls studying at higher education. Therefore, IKF Malmö and IRRA realized that the new generation is becoming adults and conducting a project focusing on Syrian girls between 15-17 years old is very critical for their future.

In Shape Your Future, the aim is to increase young Syrian refugee girls´s awareness about their rights regarding education and marriage. Through the mentoring sessions, online videos and legal consultancy, they will learn about their rights and will gain essential knowledge to shape their future in terms of education and career. The project is important to decrease the number of child marriage and strenghten the gender equality in Turkey.The project is funded by the Swedish Institute
